Director's Statement
Indonesia is confronted with a serious menace from online loan services, the younger generation targeted as the main segment often falling prey to debt as they strive to maintain a consumerist lifestyle. The tendency towards consumerism is heavily impacted by social pressures and the self-identity expression, both of which are molded by the influence of social media. Ironically, despite being highly active digitally, the likelihood getting trapped in online loan defaults remains notably high. This issue not only creates new trends in consumption patterns, but also has negative impacts which is significant.
As someone who is also part of the young generation of Indonesia, it saddens me greatly to see this phenomenon. The youth should be playing the role of 'the product creators' instead of being reduced to mere 'products' themselves. This film serves as both a social commentary and a reminder of the dangers of online loans if not approached wisely.
